What is Pilates?  Pilates provides a TOTAL BODY workout with emphasis on core
conditioning and overall flexibility.  The "core" is the area around your middle where the
muscles that support the spine are located.  The "core" extends from the shoulder
s to the
pelvic floor.  The Pilates technique consists of a series of controlled, flowing movements,
that will sculpt, strengthen, and increase flexibility.  Click the link below to see a demo of a

What to Wear:  Pilates is usually done barefoot, so no special footgear needed! Make
sure your clothes are comfortable and allow you to move and stretch fully.

You will also want to avoid wearing accessories while you're working out. Long necklaces,
belts, dangling bracelets and such could not only be distracting, but could be dangerous.  
Similarly, hair needs to be out of the face and tied back if it is long.
What to Bring:  You won’t need to bring much with you.  I'll provide any equipment that
might be needed for the workout, including mats. That said, many people like to work out on
their own mat. Pilates mats are available in many stores and online.  Pilates mats are often
made a little thicker than a yoga mat, and are recommended.  You may want to have a water
bottle available, and make sure that you are well hydrated before you start.
